Door handle holes, accidental knock-throughs, impact damage. Patched cleanly so there's no shadow or join visible once the wall is repainted.
A proper plasterboard patch isn't just filler in a hole. The damaged area is cut back to a clean edge, backed so the new patch has something to fix to, and a fresh piece of plasterboard goes in. From there it's tape, set in coats, sand and feather — so once the wall is painted, there's no shadow or visible join. Surface filler over a hole almost always shows up later.
Send a few clear photos, your suburb and a short description of the damage. For many small hole repair jobs, Kevin from KGW Builds can give a rough estimate before arranging a site visit. Larger or hidden damage may still need a quick inspection.
Surface filler pushed into a hole has nothing solid to bond to. Once it dries, it shrinks slightly. Within a few months the patch usually shows as a slight indent or a hairline ring around the original hole — which then gets worse every time the wall flexes (door slamming, temperature change).
A proper cut, back and patch repair gives the new plasterboard something to fix to, and the taped joins behave just like any other plasterboard join. Once it's set, sanded and painted, the hole is gone for good.
For very small holes — a single nail hole or pin mark — surface filler is fine and is usually a DIY-able fix. The line is roughly: anything bigger than a coin is worth doing as a proper patch.

FAQ
Yes — that's exactly the kind of job photos work well for. A close-up of the hole with something for scale (a coin, hand, or door handle in shot), plus a wider photo of the wall, is usually enough to come back with a rough estimate.
Not always. As long as access can be arranged, hole-in-wall patches can be carried out without you on-site. End-of-lease, rental and pre-sale jobs are often handled this way through a property manager or agent.
Yes. Walls are handed back ready for paint — the patch flush and sanded so there's no shadow or visible join after a fresh coat. Most clients arrange their own painter or do the touch-up themselves.
Most patches are a multi-visit job because each set coat needs to dry. Cut and patch one day, set coats over the following days, then sand to finish. End-of-lease jobs with multiple patches across rooms can usually be coordinated within a few visits over a week.
As a rough rule, anything bigger than a coin is worth doing as a cut-and-patch. Pin holes and small nail holes can be filled and painted. Door handle, fist or knock-through sized holes need a proper plasterboard patch to last.
